Dragoon Guard, a multiple graded stakes winner from the last crop of Arrogate, returns to the races on May 22nd at Churchill Downs!
The Juddmonte homebred is out of the Grade 2 winning mare Flimbi (Mizzen Mast), herself a daughter of Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Alabama Stakes (G1) winner Flute (Seattle Slew).
Dragoon Guard was ultra-impressive in 2024. He won four consecutive races at four different tracks, including the Indiana Derby (G3) and West Virginia Derby (G3). He faced his only defeat of the season when third behind Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Seize the Grey and Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Stronghold in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1).
Trainer Brad Cox said that Dragoon Guard came out of the Pennsylvania Derby with a cut from being stepped on and was a little flat when returning to training, so they decided to send him on vacation. He will start his four-year-old campaign in Churchill's opener tomorrow with regular rider Florent Geroux in the irons.
Post time for Race 1 is 5:00 p.m. ET!
