I was immediately impressed by the very first time I stumbled upon Old Smoke Clothing. It was on Twitter, I believe. I was taken aback by their beautiful clothes. Horse racing doesn’t have many shops dedicated solely to racing-related clothing and this shop had it all!
While I never had the extra-spending money to actually purchase one of their products, I’ve had my eye on many of them. Since the holidays are coming up, I thought it would be nice to compile a list of my favorite designs they have. I am hoping that doing so will help you guys find something that you like or something that you think would make the perfect gift for someone you love! Here are some of my favorite designs:
My mind has been on California a lot lately. California is the most beautiful place I have ever been. I’m sure that many of you share that same sentiment. I have been in love with Santa Anita Park since I saw the movie “Seabiscuit” as a child. As I grew older, I fell in love with Del Mar. How can you not love the track founded by the iconic Bing Crosby? Los Alamitos and Golden Gate are incredible too! Of course, we all know of the tragedies that have come about in California. That beautiful state and their beautiful racetracks have been struggling with safety and public perception. Horse racing in California is in a tough spot. I love this t-shirt because it is a reminder of the great tracks that exist in “the great race state”. It is a reminder of why we need to keep pushing to keep California horse racing alive.
I absolutely adore Midnight Bisou. This mare has so, so much talent. Her record of seven wins and one second place finish in 2019 is surely one to be respected. She won three Gr.1 races in 2019! And to top it all off, she’ll be racing next year to grow an even bigger fanbase (is that possible?)!

Parimutuel When Parimutuel was introduced to horse racing, it completely changed the game. This is the perfect gift for the horse players in your life. Who can deny that the design of this t-shirt is cool?
Oh, gloried Saratoga. Countless champion racehorses have had their shot at glory crushed here with an upset. Man o’ War was beaten there by Upset many years ago. More recently, Keen Ice defeated American Pharoah. It is the place where champions are both crowned and defeated.
This mug is a wonderful tribute to old Saratoga and all the history that has unfolded on their track. Reminisce on it all with your morning coffee when you use this mug.
When Secretariat was rounding the far turn in the 1973 Belmont Stakes, he already had a huge advantage on his competitors. Charles Anderson, watching the moment through his binoculars, called the iconic line, “Secretariat is widening now. He is moving like a tremendous machine!”

Bodexpress The 2019 Triple Crown season was full of surprises. A disqualification in the Kentucky Derby followed by a maiden horse named Bodexpress dumping his rider at the start and running with the rest of the field to finish the race. But he didn’t stop there -- Bodexpress took another lap around Pimlico’s track before finally being caught.
Bodexpress recently broke a track record at Gulfstream Park in an allowance race and will be making a step up in company for the Gr.3 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes. Get this shirt to represent this funny little horse as he makes real strides at becoming a talented racehorse.
